Getaway to Pondicherry

A small town on the eastern coast of India, Pondicherry is the perfect place for a getaway from the humdrum life. It does not have the hype that surrounds Goa or the inaccessibility of Gokarna ... it's easy on the senses and soothing to the spirit .

And as i discovered in my last trip , you can find some nice spirit there. I would recommend the local white wine, chocolate liquor and coffee liquor.

This is a rough sketch of a shack i has stayed in during one of my trips to Pondi.

You beckon me like the

Seductive pull of madness ...

To walk on and lose my

Persona in the crazy wild

splash of the waves.

When you reach Pondi, the first place to go to is the promenade and have a nice meal at La Cafe. Hear the sea roar behind you. Its the sea tamed, or so it seems from there, and all is calm and peace. The road is lined with eateries, souvenir shops , art and handicrafts and some Aurobindo Ashram outlets selling the most amazing hand made paper, soaps, oils , scents and all kinds of exotic stuff.

But no matter what you do , its the sea that dominates everything. Even when you cant see it, you can hear its roar or smell it in the balmy winds and feel it in the salty, humid air.

Look Closer ...

I was surfing and i came across a concept called Zentangle ... it's detailed symmetrical doodling and once you begin it tends to take a life of its own !!

This one is based on thoughts of upcoming Water Film Festival by Bangalore Film Society. Brick and mortar, rain and people, sparse birds in a complex , confusing city ... and a hint of the water wars that are just gonna get worse ...

This one is also self evident and i call it entanglement !!

Jazz Up The Kitchen !!

Ive had lots of postcards lying around from travels and a few days back i thought why not jazz up the kitchen a bit with them. It's a collection on postcards from Cincinnati, Texas, Bangalore and Paris ... a few tissues (of course Starbucks included) , some tickets , a few paintings of mine ...
